During my time at Northwestern, I developed skills necessary to helping me become a versatile, modern-day journalist. Covering games for Inside NU didn’t mean only writing and editing. It also meant live tweeting game and press conference updates, analysis and commentary as well as hosting post-game Facebook Live segments.

Eager to gain more traditional broadcast experience, I spent the first three months of 2022 interning at WJFW Newswatch 12 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. In a small market in the Northwoods, I learned the ropes of being a multimedia journalist. The welcoming newsroom allowed me to be a full-time news and sports reporter and get plenty of experience in the studio. I anchored several sports blocks and even anchored a 10 pm newscast during my last week at the station. My time in Rhinelander showed me the importance and power of local news to connect people within a community, especially one in which people are spread out.

Here are a few of my favorite stories.
