Eli Karp

Seeking to use media to help people find a sense of place — whether it be connecting them to experiences they’ll love, a passionate community, or anything else that makes them feel more whole.

My name is Eli Karp. I’m a recent graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications. My experience in journalism has taken me all over the U.S., from traveling the country covering Northwestern sports to spending three months in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, as a reporter at a local TV news station.

In addition to my sports and news backgrounds, I’ve always been drawn to travel. I spent three summers interning for a luxury hospitality company and have sought to help people tell their travel stories through unforgettable experiences.

One of my favorite moments is enjoying the peacefulness of a quiet stadium or arena after it has emptied out.

Whether it be reporting on local news or writing for a passionate fan base, I love using the power of modern media to facilitate community and create a sense of place for people. During my time in Rhinelander, I learned how the local news helps unite communities that are spread out and helps people engage within their community. The same can be said for my time writing for and then managing Inside NU. The site has a dedicated community of readers to whom it answers, and I resonated with the concept of connecting people with meaningful content.
